Direction Change hiccup

My 1999 Berlingo with 2001 batteries soldiers on! I've now clocked up 10,000 miles in it in rural Devon. Occasionally I've had a temporary hiccup where the van stays in reverse when you move it into forwards. Slightly embarrasing at traffic lights! This occasional problem has now become more frequen...

Re: Do replacing SAFT batts work ?

I'd better go out quick and see how it goes before the snow melts! Plus five outside and rising.

Re: Do replacing SAFT batts work ?

I replaced some failed cells on my Berlingo over two years ago and its still going. Two of the replacements were ones I'd welded up where the tops had been blown out - I used a soldering iron to melt the bits back in! It isn't enjoying the cold weather, though. After the last minus 10c a week or two...

Re: Do all berlingos beep when in reverse??

Think I mentioned this some time ago - I wired a switch in to the reverse beeper circuit and turn it on if I'm somewhere busy like a town car park so I don't run over too many pedestrians. At home in the peaceful countryside I keep it swirched off so only the cat is in danger. I cut into the circuit...

Its getting to the heater season very quickly now! I was thumbing through the recently discovered maintenance book I found in the bottom depths of the shelf under the dashboard and one of the items listed under the regular maintenance requirements is 'check the fluid level in the heating system'. Ca...

I've never used more than six litres on any maintenance charge in the last three years. Usually done after 500/600ah and about 3000 miles between each. The battery watering light usually comes on at some stage near the end of a maintenance charge but not always before the charger supply is turned of...

Some time ago this thread on the Berlingo vaccuum brake system was discussed. I still have the problem with the sensor not causing the pump to cut in when the initial vaccuum gets used up. It's a problem I live with - just have to press the brake pedal harder! I was passing the Citroen agent in Torq...

Oh! Forgot to say where it is - about three quarters of the way along the row of lights directly under the knob in the energy meter for adjusting the time.

Well. it isn't a fault light as such, its the low fuel warning. Its three wiggly lines pointing up and a jerry can with a cross on it. It comes on slowly after you first switch on. As I said, adding fuel to the tank (causing amusement at the local garage) didn't get it to go away, so I leave well al...

My heater fault light has been on ever since I bought 'Sparky' 2 years ago. I put some petrol in the tank but that made no difference. As I live in the balmy SW end of the country I haven't done any more about it and the light is just an old friend. Anyway, it did get a bit cold recently resulting i...
