Re: New to EV motorbikes
Details on the LMC, LEMCO MOTS: http://www.lmcltd.net/uploads/files/130_table.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; D135RAG Motor is same spec as Agni, I think. They are based in Honiton in Devon. I mentioned this Lemco motor in an earlier post on this thread: "If you want a Briti...

Re: New to EV motorbikes
That price looks about right. Have you tried Agni directly or maybe Lemco to get a price?
These motors are a LOT smaller and lighter than the big Sep Ex motor you were first looking at, plus they have a pretty good performance pedigree running in bikes.

Re: New to EV motorbikes
My experience was that the local office couldn't handle it directly any more, but I know they've been able to in the past, as I've built a couple of kit cars and always used my local office. I went down to my local DVLA office (they're only 40 mins away in Poole) and all they did was act as a post b...
Re: G-Whiz
Probably a better deal than getting a pack from ebay : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/G-Wiz-Replacement-battery-pack-Supply-only-/190392869631?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item2c544ca2ff" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The AC drive one looks like it might go for a bargain price, to...

Re: New to EV motorbikes
Is there a good part of the site to look at the legal/dvla side of EV's? I understand the part of telling them about the powerplant change, Will I need an engineers report or a dvla inspection?. There are a couple of stories about the different ways local offices have handled things, but that's abo...

Re: range extending generator
You're right, if you only use one 72V generator then you'd have to rearrange the battery pack as a 72V one, by connecting the two halves together in parallel, rather than series, for charging. You might be able to do this with a big contactor though, and so still run, albeit at lower speed, whilst c...

Re: range extending generator
I'm not quite sure I understand your set up, but assuming that your battery is 144V and can be tapped at the mid voltage point, then you could either charge it from two motors wired as generators and connected in series (so 2 x 72V = 144V) or you could have two motors wired as generators arranged so...

Re: New to EV motorbikes
I used to have an RD50MX field bike years back. Yes light is the best route, With the Agni would I need a gearbox or just go for a big rear sprocket? I'm going to make a card mockup of the Agni this week to look at instillation postions etc. I'm hoping to do most of the fabrication work myself, Inv...

Re: New to EV motorbikes
Glad to help. As you probably already know, light is good on a motorcycle. I'm in the process of rebuilding (very slowly) my smaller electric motorcycle project (it's based on an old RD50MX), taking out the heavy Mars motor (it weighs around 15kg) and replacing it with a much smaller (around 2.5kg!)...

Re: New to EV motorbikes
You'll find that shipping heavy stuff can be a pain, it's usually both expensive and slow. Batteries present the biggest shipping problem at the moment, as the companies are implementing safety regulations that mean that big shipments can't go by air very easily. As virtually all of them come from C...
