Re: Poor battery life
I have 5-segment LED bar meters for each 12v battery in my EV - they are very useful for looking at the voltage sag while you are actually driving, so you can see if any one battery is weaker than the others. I did not know how to make them, but bought them off the shelf from 4QD - they call them &q...

Robert Fowler (who has done a variety of conversions while trading as AVT (alternative vehicles technology)) runs a website called http://www.everything-ev.com. He is based in Somerset. Likely to give you helpful advice. He can get you all kinds of parts, though he may not be the cheapest. Regarding...

Re: Charge connector in fuel flap
Would a 16 amp connector be OK?
Recessed plugs (blue 16A Commando type) are fitted to caravans/motor homes for their hook-ups. I have found 2 or 3 styles in my local caravan shop. I fitted one where the fuel filler used to be - had to enlarge the hole in the car side panel a bit.

Re: Recommendations for a 'dry' lead acid battery for EV use
I have been reasoably satisfied with Powersonic batteries. And they are not too expensive - around £100 for a 12v 100AH battery. I tried Optima Yellow tops and they didn't give a very long cycle life.

Re: Mega City car - premature battery failure
As others have replied, battery life depends on how they are used. Yours are 76Ah batteries. I don't know what current the Aixam draws, but heavy acceleration or hills are likely to need currents of around 3C, which does put quite a strain on the. Also deep discharges - ie using the vehicle until it...

Re: EV safety for heart pacemakers
Presumably you are investigating this because you, or someone who will be using your EV, has a pacemaker. The other approach is to ask what would happen to the person if the magnetic field did in fact affect the pacemaker. Ask the manufacturer's rep - Would the magnetic interference would cause the ...

Re: British Gas Launches Electric Vehicle Charging Tariff
The British Gas website says that they will install the charging point in your home for "as little as" £995 !
Seems to be aimed at Nissan Leaf owners
Can't see from the website what the tariff is, or how it differs from economy 7

Re: Bristol-London Eco-rally Sunday 31st July
The first post on this thread gives the wrong starting point. According to the later post, and to the Bridgestone eco-rally website, it does not start from Bristol but from Oxford. Pity - I am in Bristol and would have liked to see the line-up I guess that Bristol - London is too far for most pure E...

Elcat motor brushes
Has anyone on this forum got (or had) an Elcat van? I have run one for the last 5 years - it is about 11 years old and has done a total of 25,000 miles. Today I took a look at the motor brushes. Not a perfect view because of difficult access and fear of removing something that maybe I couldn't get b...
