Re: Old BMS Hardware Thread

if you can get some tape (we call it masking tape here but any label tape would work) and write what the other end of the wire is connected to, so you can see where it connects on the board and also the label that says where the other end of the wire goes, i think it would help a lot

Re: Old BMS General Thread

Thanks Greg, that makes it all a bit more clear. I think they discharged too far because the people using it kept driving it after the alarm went off. And then kept driving it... The next one is gonna have a hard disconnect that will open both contactors when the cells are discharged.

Re: Old BMS General Thread

Finally got to tear into the machine today. it's been...almost 4 months. the cells are all pretty dead, gonna try to revive as many as possible. found out the problem was somehow caused by the BMS. it might have been the cold, but somehow the bms was reset to 0 cells. i tried to set it to 0 cells th...

Re: Old BMS General Thread

if the problem is caused by low cells it's because they over used it without charging it. there isn't a fail-safe cut off on it at low voltage, all it does is flash the fault screen and sound the alarm when it gets to the low voltage cut off. next version i'm adding a hard cut off across the throttl...

Re: Old BMS General Thread

no, mechanic hasn't gotten back to me. seems the least he could do is reply to his email and tell me if it's done anything new or not....but i guess he's pretty busy up there. seems like a decent job....work in pretty much full isolation for six months or so and then they buy you a ticket anywhere i...

Re: Old BMS General Thread

i'm up in your guy's neck of the woods for the next couple weeks, i'm in cornwall right now. not sure where you guys are all located but if you're nearby it would be fun to check out your projects and see how it's all been implemented :)

Re: Old BMS General Thread

thanks, i told him how to check the cell voltages with a meter to see what the cells are actually at. i think next time i will add a breakout board somewhere that i can keep covered, but then just remove one cover and have access to somewhere that i can measure all the cells. right now it is kind of...

Re: Old BMS General Thread

The mention of cell 29 was actually a typo, it was a problem with cell 26 all along. The cells have seemed like they have stayed balanced pretty well and 26 shouldn't be low enough that it would be almost a volt lower than the rest. what is the lowest voltage that the pics will work on? the data she...

Re: Old BMS General Thread

So it's actually cell 26 that's having a problem, rather than cell 29. the mechanic sent me pictures of the cell voltages today. everything looks good (if a bit low) up until cell 25. Cell 26 and beyond all have 1.75 listed as the cell voltage. I had thought that if there was a problem with the comm...

Re: Old BMS General Thread

received this from the mechanic today: The only light on was the one that flashes once per second until I changed the setting from zero to 48. It was showing 0 cells I went into the menu and reset it to 48, then pressed the center button I then had an alarm go off the right LED came on and the secon...
