Re: Electric Motorcycle event 25th Friday afternon

Mathew,

Useful input to discussions are welcome, blatant adverts aren't, at least not when repeated ad nauseum.

How many spam posts do you get to make before being classed as a total pain in the arse?

One post advertising your business/event whatever would have been acceptable, spamming every damned thread here isn't, in my view.

Re: New to EV motorbikes

The Headways are probably the easiest way to make an odd-shaped pack that will fit the frame more easily. The Thundersky cells are OK, but are a bit of an awkward shape to try and fit into a frame.

Re: New to EV motorbikes

EVAssemble get some truly awful reports over on the ES forum, mainly for supplying very unreliable BMS systems and then being very difficult to deal with. There seem to be a lot of very unhappy EVAssemble customers about - a search on ES with the term EVAssemble will soon find all the tales of woe. ...

Re: New to EV motorbikes

I have a lot of Headway cells and have found them to be OK. I used the older 38120 10Ah cells and paid around $16 each for them direct from Headway in China. I think the current price for small quantities (less than 100) is around $18 each from most resellers (they are probably cheaper direct from H...

Re: Discharged Lithium cells

It depends very much how low they've gone and what type of cells they are. There are plenty of examples on ES where some types of LiFePO4 cells have been resurrected from near zero volts successfully. I have a pack of Headway cells that accidentally got discharged down to around 1V per cell and they...

Re: New to EV motorbikes

The simple answer is that these won't deliver the current you need. The cells they are using are laptop cells, which have a low maximum current capability. The key things to look for when picking cells for a relatively high power system like this are the rated discharge capability of the cells and t...

Re: Now one of my batts overcharging!

True, you don't get hydrogen produced during discharge. Battery heating when discharging is solely due to resistive loss, but if you have a wire that's getting hot it indicates that it might not be man enough for the job, or, perhaps, it may have a dodgy. high resistance, connection that's causing t...

Re: Now one of my batts overcharging!

14.7 sounds OK to me, that's about the top end of charge for a wet lead acid battery. A car electrical system generally runs at around that voltage whilst being charged. If the cells aren't gassing excessively and getting hot then they're not being over charged, as a general rule. Wet cells are gene...

Re: Berlingo Suspension

Very good tip. This happened to my wife's C2 a few weeks ago - a loud bang from the front as she turned the wheel on the drive to pull away, followed by some nasty crunching noises when I tried to move the car. Her car was also subject to the same recall (I think PSA used the same suspension design ...
