Re: Details for next years UK electric car subsidies announced

I've just received confirmation from Reva that the Reva NXR Intercity conforms to this standard and will be elegible for the subsidies.

Based on the list price they've already announced, this means that you'll be able to get a lithium-powered electric car for a decent price.

How environmentally friendly are electric cars?

I've been carrying out some test comparisons between electric cars and petrol cars to see how they compare in efficiency. Here is the resulting YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSVc2SrXVIk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I've also issued a press release, talking about the...

Re: 2010 Kit car shows, and the BVS, from Ed

Is the BVS not doing the Stoneleigh show this year? If you are, I have two electric cars I can bring along. Sadly, all the other shows are beyond my range.

My book is finally out

My electric car book has finally made it out of the printers and into the shops. It's been a crazy couple of weeks getting everything sorted and there has been one or two hiccoughs along the way. It's all very exciting though and people are already buying it on Amazon, which is even better. I've don...

Re: 20 year lifecycle 10,000 cycle count Lithium batteries

Another electric vehicle manufacturer have been working with another battery provider. They reckon that they too have hit the 10,000 cycle life on batteries, although they reckon 'only' 17½ years for battery life.

Mind you, the batteries aren't cheap...

Hi All If someone can tell me how far you get on a single kilowatt of electricity in a Berlingo or 106, I'll gladly add that to the website. In December and January the carbon footprint of our nations electrickery is much, much higher than at any other time of the year. Its noticeable that as the te...

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I really appreciate it. Based on what has been said here, I decided I needed to have another go at the page in order to explain more clearly what the fuel savings actually are. Go and have another look - I've added a new table on the bottom right hand side that shows w...

Currently, it's showing 587g/kWh. That means, if my car did 5km/kWh, I'd be contributing similar emissions to a BMW 116d. That's a lot higher than I expected! I'd be better off with a Citroen C1 or a Mini Diesel than an EV today. Oh no you wouldn't. The chances are your ev is doing more than 5km/kW...

I used to have a mid-engined Fiat X1/9 (many years ago!) and that was a fantastic car in the snow. The only problem was the front spoiler was so low the car ended up being a snow plough! I think that driving in snow is as much down to the driver as it is to the car. I've had people tell me tha...
