Re: More Belingo van troubles , charging not intialising ?

No response from Evan, but I have put a new (Yes still in the PSA box) Complete controller for sale on the for sale section. I have spent as much as the sale price on getting Evan to repair controllers in the past (my original one cost around £800 to repair) Its on as an exchange, so I can get it re...

Re: Mobility scooter

Yuasa are good, but make sure you get ones that match the connections on your vehicle. Some have spade connection, screw terminals and some are soldered directly to the battery. Get what matches yours or be prepared to change your vehicle connections. Also sizes do vary so make sure you get ones tha...

Re: yellow blingo van in mid lincs

I still have w833wae, bit dead at the moment, but may rise from the ashes of wiring problems one day.
It started life with Liverpool council. You can still make out the slightly shiny paint on the sides where the signwriting came off.

Re: pallet truck method of battery removal

cracks at the top suggest internal pressure suggests explosion suggests exposed plate, so probably melted case first then ignited remaining hydrogen when electrolyte escaped.

Last ones I sold went for around £125 but a new one (if you can get them) are e600

Re: pallet truck method of battery removal

This is caused by a failure of the separator layer in the cell. Which means that under load the plates have touched, passing a lot of current through a small part of the plate, which in this instance is close to the side and so has melted through. Nothing you can do about this type of failure. If th...

Re: pallet truck method of battery removal

If it overflowed then it must have passed through to the other cells. So they should have been watered OK.

Re: Power cuts = no transport

Blingo 6v cells tend not to just lose capacity, but tend to have one or more of the internal 1.2v cells short out/fail, so giving a much lower voltage. Lifepo4, tend to lose capacity and each cell is a cell in its own righ so a totally failed cell isnt part of the Monobloc like the SAFT Nicad. Grump...

Re: pallet truck method of battery removal

What I was saying was that if you have had a physical failure like this and the battery had been holed, the watering of the string of cells may not have been completed as the water would have been unable to get to the cells beyond the damaged one. So just decide if the damage would have prevented th...

Re: Berlingo steering rack

The rack doesnt fail. The ram is a separate bolt on part to the rear of the rack. Its very different from a lot of cars where the internals of the rack are part of the hydraulics, so any hydraulic failure means a change of steering rack. Not so the Berlingo. I know at least 6 vehicles that have had ...
