Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

Hi There, I completely lost track of this thread.... Real pain to find again. Well.. anyway... I've been running BMS Free up to now and within the next year I am going to get this thing going for both my car and e-bike. The 36V BMS I was using on the later literally died and fried part of the pack. ...

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

Hi,

I will be using the version I posted here earlier. Its the exact same as yours, just smaller layout. All the conectors are there and its the SMD version of the picaxe. I was actually wondering why you've chosen the SMD, it would be easier with a DIP to replace?

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

I got the new boards. Never done them on the oven so the result was not good... http://imageshack.us/a/img96/4929/dscn0753hb.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img9/4793/dscn0751rs.jpg Ended up doing them with a regular soldering iron, but since I reused the IC's from the other board and some got bent pads ...

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

Yeah, I got myself one of those. There are 3 wires: Ignition, alternator and Diagnostic + 2 large wires for power and GND. Usually you send power to the ignition wire and 12V to the alternator wire for the pump to run. On mine it simply refused to work. I think the pump either had codes stored or wa...

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

He he he... The usual, just let them talk  No wonder you do it by hand, it ends up being easier. Is a good software but still has a lot to go! I ordered the version I posted on the forum before. My boards are somewhere between here and china now lol. I just "finished" the car. Fai...

Re: LTC6802 based 12 cell slave.

Welcome back 8) Not a bad idea, but isnt there some kind of round plug that could be used instead? Just because its much easier to drill a hole into a battery box. I was also thinking in a precharge controller. 1 relay and 1 contactor. Relay with a Pre-charge resistor, when the output voltage was ab...

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

Many thanks. I am just wondering why 2 relays for the charger then, the Alarm relay could also control the charger, or is it a special feature on the charger relay, like do not allow to continue charging after the BMS has cut the first time? As with temperature my issue is Regeneration. My wife does...

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

Me again  Revised questions, I believe the charger circuit only operates when the charger input is high, am I right? If so will it enable the relay all the time the charger is suposed to be on and go off once the charge is completed? I also believe that the Alarm output indicates both HVC a...

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

Ouch...! Thanks I am making modifications on your board and was wondering if I can feed the picaxe with 3v3? I plan to do charger identification by reading of input voltage (5V = Car BMS, 12V = Charger). The 5V need to be regulated still, so the most I have is like 4V, so working with 3v3 would be i...

Re: Lithium Battery Monitor 48 cell

Hi casemod, Glad to see someone playing with my board :D I just noticed I didn't put the schematic in the KiCad files on my webpage so I'll get that fixed  The current drain on the first three cells is of the order of 0.6mA so I'm not overly worried. I will be manually balancing periodically ...
