Re: Ex UPS lead acids

I'll keep looking then, although I've been looking on & off for a couple of months already - Just have to hope they come back.

Hmmm... if the price of lead is that high, I wonder what I can get for those junk batteries I've got lying around...

Thanks

Ex UPS lead acids

A couple of years ago I bought some ex-UPS Yuasa endurance AGM's for my home renewable energy system for a very reasonable price. They are excellent and still going strong. I'm now looking for some more to expand the system but cannot find any advertised in the obvious places (e.g. ebay). Have I jus...

Re: 41.3p per kwh sell back

The cynic in me feels that this is a way for gov't to give money to people who are already relatively wealthy but not interested in the environment (i.e. they've got lots of roofspace, and spare cash lying around (like your average MP for e.g.)), whilst avoiding giving money to people who have alrea...

zebra batteries

Oh, OK, I'm not sure, now, where I got the idea that they were lithium! hmm, well there are obvious drawbacks with a battery that operates at that temp - though at least you'd have a source of instant heat to demist your windows  . I suppose it might be good if your using the vehicle every day ...

price for a berlingo

OK, though the Zebra battery is basically a lithium battery, yes? and (i assume) expensive. so, if one comes by a berlingo with dud batteries how much would it cost to source 'new' NiCds? £1000s? Or - how much would you expect to pay for one with good batteries? (I suspect this would be the cheapest...

berlingo

hi Chrisb No, I just see them now and then on ebay, etc, and the prices seem to vary a lot. it would be better to replace the duff units and get either a berlingo or 106 back running on the nicads. From what i've read on this forum I thought replacement nicads were either too pricey or in short supp...

market value of a electrique with dud battery

I was wondering what a 'reasonable' price for a berlingo / 106 with knackered batteries would be? I see from searching the forum that there have been battery conversions to lithium (at least one completed), but I was thinkng it may be a relatively cheap & staightforward way to get a useable EV b...

fair comments, but I have tried one of these (in fact I made my own version), but the question is: does it work better than a long slow charge - from my own tests - no, not really.

Hi robbymax, It sounds to me that you may have 1 or more bad cells in that battery. I'm no expert, but i suggest that you leave that battery to rest for a couple of days after a long slow charge and see if it still copes with a load test. Assuming you're using them in parallel (connected for 12v), y...

Fair enough - I think I'd just find some other way to deal with the shortfall myself. It doesn't make sense to me to buy enough panels to supply all my power needs in December when for the other 11 months they'll be generating a surplus. But i expect you say that somewhere (I haven't read all your r...
