Article on the Tesla Roadster in Swedish technology paper

Hi, I noticed an article in a weekly paper I get called "Ny Teknik" about the Tesla Roadster. It's all in Swedish so I quickly did a rough translation of the main article so that others can have a read. There are other smaller articles and a couple of information boxes as well which I have...

Update

Thanks for all the help and links so far! I just thought I'd post a little update. So far I haven't been able to progress much on the actual building front, HOWEVER, I have met with some success on sourcing parts: I managed to find a Chrystler 9.5hp outboard motor with a long rig, propellor still at...

Oh thanks for the help! I'd almost given up hope that someone would reply to this thread  From what I've read, they don't have a memory effect at all and they tolerate abuse rather well, so over-charging and deep-discharging doesn't seem to bother them. The only disadvantage I can find is the ...

Re: Boat motor

Hi Deddly. Geeky, I have one similar to yours, it is series wound, is the one you have series wound ? If it is, then reversing would be a problem, probably impossible. Reversing is great to have but I'm pretty sure I can live without it. Very rarely is a reverse gear used on a boat, and if you need...

Ebay is a wonderful place, unfortunately for me the Swedish version of Ebay doesn't have the wonderful variety that the UK one does, and people don't like putting their stuff on at a low starting price, because they might get only one bid. I'll keep my eyes open though, that's for sure. The dynamo s...

Re: Motor

Ed, if you must use a starter motor, I strongly advise against it... ...If you overheat it ... ...run down your batteries... ...not reversible... ...bearings... ...want to rev to infinity... I like making electric toys that people can ride on. I have never considered starter motors as a suitable mo...

Considering that milk float motors are only rated at 7.5 horse power I would not have thought you would need anything near 8 horse power for a small boat. Peter I would aggree, I don't think I need that kind of power for what I'm looking for. Mind you, any ideas where I can get an old milk float mo...
